Jamie Vardy hopeful that England strike will reignite his form for Leicester City

Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy is looking to kick on and reignite his form after being on target for England in midweek ahead of the Foxes' Premier League clash with Watford at Vicarage Road on Saturday.

Vardy scored 24 times last season and was instrumental in their fairy-tale title success, but has managed just two in 11 appearances for Claudio Ranieri's men so far this term.

However, the 29-year-old finally ended a run of 15 matches for club and country without a goal by netting for the Three Lions in the 2-2 draw with Spain at Wembley last Tuesday.

He is hopeful that is the turning point for him to rediscover the scoring touch for the Foxes starting this weekend.

"I think it's been needed and hopefully I can kick on from there now and start banging them in," he said.

"It's just always good to get that goal. That one is in the back of the net now and hopefully I can kick on and start putting more away.

"I just think a lot of the chances I was getting last year have not been there this year.

He added: "It's just all about working hard and eventually they'll come. I think it always happens when you're a striker.

"You do go through spells without scoring but eventually it will come back and you'll be banging them in again.

"At the end of the day the team comes first and it's about how you're working hard for the team - the bonuses come after, which is obviously the goals. I'm always ready."
