Galatasaray travel on a tricky away day at Kasimpasa. They will need to win all three points to keep up and still contest the Super Lig title.
Galatasaray meet Kasimpasa on Sunday as part of the Super Lig Matchday 13, just days after their respective Cup clashes. Both teams will desperately need points for different reasons, where Cimbom look to catch up with the top 3 while the home side wants to escape the danger zone.
Jan OldeRiekerink’s team suffered two consecutive losses to direct title run rivals this month and a comeback to a confident win against Bursaspor was much needed to lift the team spirits. The team now look to retain consistency once again and need rivals’ slip-ups to climb the table and catch up with the table-toppers Istanbul Basaksehir.
The Apaches have been far more consistent at home recently, with three wins in their last five matches. However, Galatasaray will indeed be a more serious test and we don’t see them locking the points at home. They do score goals in front of the home crowd, even in some trashing losses (such as that to Fenerbahce in September).
Galatasaray, on the other hand, had a good start of the season and went seven games undefeated but then recorded three league losses in just under a month. The team have been rather solid at the back but the attacking line led by Eren Derdiyok scored just 18 goals, six of which came from their top striker. We thus expect an early goal to open up the battle for points and hope for a thrilling matchup.
Derdiyok netted one goal in the Bursaspor win last week and that could be a sign he’s building towards his red-hot August/September form, so don't be surprised to see him to score returning to Recep Tayyip Erdogan Stadium on Sunday.
