Barcelona are hoping to welcome back two of their first team defenders for this Saturday's El Clasico showdown against arch-rivals Real Madrid in the shape of Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba.
Barcelona are hoping to welcome back two key defenders to their starting eleven against Real Madrid this Saturday afternoon as Gerard Pique and Jordi Alba both returned to first team training late in the week. Both sides missed the Real Sociedad clash last weekend with unspecified knocks but both seem likely to be given starting berths in this game.
There was a slightly more alarming worry for Los Cules when star man and five time Ballon D'Or winner Lionel Messi missed training on Monday, but it has since been revealed the Argentinian's absence was nothing more than a precaution and he returned to training again on Thursday afternoon. Andres Iniesta will however miss out again and his energy in midfield will be a big loss for the hosts.
Real Madrid on the other hand are hoping to welcome back Casemiro to their starting eleven. The defensive midfielder has been a key part of Zinedine Zidane's plans when fit and he returned to training this week so is likely to be included in the holding role to provide a solid defensive base for the more attack-minded players.
Gareth Bale will unfortunately miss out however. The Welsh wizard has been missing for the last few games with an ankle injury and we've since been told that he'll be out for up to fourth months for los Blancos. Midfielder Toni Kroos is also absent for this one and could be in the treatment room with Bale for some time.
