Daniel De Ridder plans talks with Wigan boss Roberto Martinez

Football News Staff - 20 Jul 2010

Wigan midfielder Daniel De Ridder admits he will look to leave the DW Stadium if he does not get regular first-team football.

The Dutchman, who has a year remaining on his deal, did not make a single appearance for the Latics last season before spending the second half of the campaign on loan at Hapoel Tel Aviv.

And De Ridder, 26, now plans on showdown talks with manager Roberto Martinez.

He said: “I would love to stay here at Wigan, but only if I’m playing regularly. That’s what every player wants and that’s my goal at the moment.

“I will be speaking to Roberto and whatever comes out of that chat will make the situation a bit clearer for myself. Then we’ll make the right decision for all parties.

“The career of a footballer is so short and I cannot waste any more time. That’s my feeling.

“If I’m not going to playing then I hope that the manager will be honest about it, and I think he will be.”
