West Ham United and England midfielder Scott Parker believes he is in the best form of his career.
The 30-year-old was rewarded for his superb performances for the Hammers by receiving his fifth England cap at the weekend, and he responded by producing another fine display as the Three Lions ran out 2-0 winners against Wales.
Parker told The Sun: “I feel like I am probably playing the best football of my career.
“I went into the game confident and in form and, hopefully, I showed that out there.
“I was really happy I got a start, got to play and finished up on a winning side.”
The game came at the end of a difficult week for Parker, whose father passed away just eight days before Saturday’s match.
And the West Ham captain added: “It has been a tough week. I suppose the one disappointing fact was that my dad wasn't here to see me play.
“But I am sure he is looking down and is very proud.
“My father had been ill for a long time and I have been dealing with that in my own way and trying to stay strong in my own way.”
