West Ham co-owner David Sullivan calm despite poor start

Football News Staff - 9 Sep 2010

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan is refusing to press “panic buttons” despite a dismal start to the campaign.

The Hammers are bottom of the Premier League having lost all three games so far, and there had been reports in the media that Avram Grant’s position as manager could be on the line over the next three games.

But Sullivan is confident Grant and his players will soon turn their season around.

He told the London Evening Standard: “Nobody is pressing any panic buttons and reports to the contrary are rubbish.

“We are building a new team under a new manager and transition is a tough time but game by game, I anticipate an improvement over the coming months.

“We expect the team to come together over the next few games and see some real progress. When we looked at the early fixtures we knew we faced a tough time but we only managed two points from the same fixtures last season.”

West Ham next face reigning champions Chelsea who have enjoyed a storming start to the season, netting 14 goals without conceding on their way to three wins from three games.
