West Ham manager Avram Grant is confident Matthew Upson will stay with the club.
The England defender has one-year remaining on his current deal at Upton Park and there have been no signs he is about to agree a contract extension.
Co-owner David Gold admitted on Friday that the club may have to cash in before the transfer window closes if a suitable offer is made, but Grant believes Upson will pen a new deal.
He said: “90% of the squad will stay and Matthew Upson is in that 90% who will stay here.
“We like him, he’s good for us and a good captain, and he will stay.”
