West Ham midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has suffered another injury setback that will keep him sidelined for a further four months.
Having penned a three-year contract in the summer, the former Lazio player is yet to make his Hammers debut after suffering a thigh injury during Germay’s friendly against Denmark just three days before the Premier League opener.
But just as the German international looked set to finally make his long-awaited West Ham bow against Wolves this weekend, it has emerged he is now facing more time in the treatment room due to another thigh problem that may require surgery.
The Sun newspaper is reporting that a club insider told them Hitzlsperger’s thigh muscle has become detached from the bone and described the injury as a “complete disaster” for both the player and the club.
