Premier League newcomers West Brom have admitted their interest in Lyon striker Frederic Piquionne.
The 31-year-old scored 11 goals while on loan at Portsmouth last season, and his record for cash-strapped Pompey garnered the Baggies’ attention as they look to boost their firepower for the return to the top flight.
But Piquionne is also reportedly a target for Fulham and West Ham, and West Brom sporting and technical director Dan Ashworth admits they will face a fight to sign the forward.
Ashworth said: “Frederic has got a couple of years left at Lyon and we’ve made an inquiry but there is no firm commitment.
“He is a player who has been linked with three or four clubs so he’s not short of options.”
