Tottenham defender William Gallas has been offered a contract extension, manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed.
The 33-year-old made the shock move to White Hart Lane last summer after his contract expired with fierce rivals Arsenal, and has played a key role in Spurs’ injury-plagued defence this season.
The North London outfit are challenging for a top-four place in the Premier League once again and have also embarked on a surprising run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, and Redknapp has hailed Gallas as “one of the signings of the season” for the part he has played.
So when the Frenchman recently confirmed he would like to extend his stay with Spurs, the club were more than happy to open talks over a new deal.
Redknapp told the Daily Telegraph: “The chairman's doing a deal.
“William fully deserves it, he has been top class. He's a nice man, a quiet man who just gets on with it.
“He could have gone abroad during the summer and made money, but the deal he did with us was an awful lot less than he was on at Arsenal.
“He has been one of the signings of the season. He has been magnificent for us and has played nearly all the games.”
