Tottenham striker Robbie Keane has insisted he never considered a January move to Birmingham City.
Blues had a bid for the Republic of Ireland international accepted by Spurs this week, but later claimed they had decided against signing the 30-year-old because of the player’s contract demands.
However, Keane told Sky Sports News: “The Birmingham stuff was never on anyway, so it was very strange to see that stuff on Sky yesterday in the first place.
"It was never going to happen.”
Rock-bottom West Ham have been linked with a move for Keane, but the Irishman insisted: “I haven't heard anything at the moment but we will just see what happens.
“But like I said, that Birmingham stuff yesterday was a bit bizarre with a statement coming out from them which I found very strange.
“A deal was never really on the table, so I just think that Birmingham was looking for a bit of publicity really.”
