Jonathan Woodgate could make a shock return to action for Tottenham before the end of the season.
The injury-plagued centre-back’s career was thought to have been under serious threat due to a long-standing groin problem, and he was subsequently left out of the 25-man Spurs squad for the first half of the Premier League campaign.
But manager Harry Redknapp has now revealed that Woodgate has returned to training following months of rehabilitation, and that the 29-year-old could feature before the end of the season.
The Spurs boss said: “It’s fantastic for him. It’s the first time in 18 months or so that there’s been a bit of light at the end of the tunnel for him.”
And when asked if Woodgate could play this season, Redknapp added: “He could do if he keeps progressing.”
