Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp insists there is still a chance David Beckham could join the club on loan.
The 35-year-old Los Angeles Galaxy star is keen on a temporary switch to Europe in a bid to maintain his fitness ahead of the new Major League Soccer season.
However, a short-term switch to Spurs appeared to have collapsed when Redknapp revealed at the weekend that “insurance issues” were proving to be a major stumbling block in striking a deal.
Beckham has still linked up with the White Hart Lane outfit to train during the MLS off-season, but Redknapp has not given up hope of a loan agreement being reached.
He told Sky Sports News: “It is great to have him here. Everyone has worked hard to get him here and we were hoping he would come and play obviously.
“No one could have worked harder than the chairman, Daniel Levy, everybody.
“They grafted away to try and get a deal done so he could play for us, but it was a bit complicated. You never know, though, and we will see how we go.”
And Redknapp has no concerns about Beckham needing time to reach full fitness if a deal is done.
He added: “He is a fit lad and looks like he is in great condition. That would not be a problem, but whether it is possible to do it I am not sure.”
