Harry Redknapp: Tottenham can be champions

Football News Staff - 21 Mar 2011
Harry Redknapp insists Tottenham can win the Premier League title in the next few years.

Spurs appear to be out of the title race this time, with Redknapp’s men currently 14 points behind table-toppers Manchester United.

But the White Hart Lane outfit have been stealing the headlines in Europe this season, with their stunning run to the quarter-finals of the Champions League having featured victories against both AC Milan and Inter Milan.

And Redknapp believes their progress in Europe’s premier club competition has proved they can compete with the Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea in the race for the Premier League crown.

He said: “I've said I aim to win the league. Whether people believe it I don't know. They might think I'm mad but I think it is possible.

“I said last year that I thought we'd get in the top four and we did it. I did not say I wanted to be in the Europa League, I said I wanted to be in the Champions League and we did it.

“There is nothing between us at the top now. There is nothing between us and Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United. I think the players believe it too.

“We have got some fantastic players here and we have proved it in Europe and we have to believe it.

“We have some real good players and if we can get one or two in to improve the squad, then the sky is the limit.”
