Gareth Bale not fearful of European switch

Football News Staff - 4 Apr 2011
Tottenham star Gareth Bale has admitted he would be interested in playing for a European club.

Spurs are expected to face a fight to keep the 21-year-old this summer, with the Wales international having garnered the attention of the continent’s biggest clubs following a number of dazzling displays this season.

And Bale, believed to be a target of both Barcelona and Real Madrid, admits he would not fear making a move abroad in the future.

He told AS: “You never know (what will happen) but I have no fear about leaving the country, if there is a great opportunity then that has to be considered seriously.

“I left home when I was 15, if I leave the Premier League, learn another language and see another country then I will grow as a person.”

But for now Bale is happy at White Hart Lane and he went on to praise manager Harry Redknapp, insisting his approach has been key to Tottenham’s dramatic rise on both the domestic and European scene.

The Welshman added: “Training with him is like playing in the street, he just wants us to play and that benefits the team.

“Under Juande Ramos, he didn't speak good English and wanted things done his way,

“Harry allows us to express ourselves freely and that has what has led us to the level we are at now.”
