David Beckham could still join Tottenham on loan, manager Harry Redknapp has revealed.
Spurs’ bid to land the 35-year-old star on a temporary two-month switch looked to be over when Redknapp revealed at the weekend that “insurance issues” had scuppered their plans.
The Tottenham boss went on to confirm that Beckham would still link up with the club this winter, but only to train to maintain fitness during the Major League Soccer off-season.
However, he has now hinted that a deal could be back on that would see former Manchester United ace Beckham return to the Premier League after a x-year-absence.
When asked if a deal could still be struck, Redknapp said: “I don’t honestly know. That’s being done above my head.
“Hopefully it could still happen. The situation is ongoing.”
Beckham suffered a serious Achilles injury during a loan spell with AC Milan last year, and that injury was believed to be behind the insurance issue that was preventing a possible agreement with Los Angeles Galaxy.
But Redknapp added: “I was led to believe that insurance was a problem, but apparently that’s not the case.”
