Sunderland manager Steve Bruce has ruled out letting Martyn Waghorn leave the club on loan.
The 20-year-old striker, who played a starring role in Leicester’s surprise run the Championship play-offs last season, has been linked with a temporary switch to relegated Hull.
Speculation intensified when the two met in a friendly at the weekend, but Bruce admits it is unlikely that Waghorn will be reunited with Tigers boss Nigel Pearson, his manager at Leicester last season.
Bruce told the Hull Daily Mail: “The kid was outstanding on loan last season and now I think that 70% of the Championship would like to take him.
“I have said that his future is with us this year and nothing has changed. I wouldn’t have thought I would be loaning him out this season.”
