Sunderland manager Steve Bruce is eager to make permanent captures of Nedum Onuoha and Danny Welbeck.
Both men impressed during Sunday’s 3-0 victory at Premier League champions Chelsea, with on-loan Manchester City defender Onuoha opening the scoring before on-loan Manchester United forward Welbeck wrapped things up.
And Bruce has revealed he is planning to talk with their respective parent clubs to discuss the possibility of making their stays at the Stadium of Light permanent.
He said: “Danny has produced very well and played well. The sad thing for me is how much will it cost now to buy them?
“They’re two loan players who have done fantastically well. They’ve got plenty of time. We’d love them to stay.
“We’ve got them for a year and we’ll speak to the respective clubs nearer the time. They’re exactly what we’re looking for. They are young, energetic and desperate to play.
“But all round, the team produced a fantastic performance. I hope people talk about Sunderland rather than Chelsea’s poor performance.
“Apart from the debacle against Newcastle a few weeks ago, we’ve been terrific.”
