Paolo Da Silva and David Healy leave Sunderland

Football News Staff - 31 Jan 2011
Sunderland have confirmed the departures of defender Paolo Da Silva and forward David Healy.

Paraguay international Da Silva had slipped down the Stadium of Light pecking order this season following the arrival of Titus Bramble and Nedum Onuoha, making just three appearances for the Black Cats.

And the North East have now allowed the 31-year-old to join top-flight Spanish side Real Zaragoza for an undisclosed fee.

Meanwhile, Healy has completed a move to Scottish Premier League champions Rangers.

The Ibrox outfit have been in the hunt for an attacking player following the departure of Kenny Miller earlier this month, and handed 31-year-old Healy a six-month deal at the weekend.

The Northern Ireland international, who had a loan spell at Doncaster Rovers earlier this season, told Rangers’ official website: “I had a trial with Rangers when I was 14 but I couldn't sign back then as I was a little bit too young.

“But it's been well documented that I am a Rangers fan and so are all my family.

“My dad comes on the boat to watch a lot of the games with his friends so it's a boyhood dream for me. I'm absolutely thrilled to be here.”
