Injured Sunderland keeper Craig Gordon will not rush return

Football News Staff - 3 Sep 2010

Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon will not rush his return from a broken arm.

The 27-year-old is currently on the sidelines after breaking his left arm for the second time in eight months during a training ground accident.

And Gordon, who will miss Scotland’s Euro 2012 qualifiers over the next few days, knows trying to hurry his recuperation could cause more problems.

He told the Daily Record: “I’d like to return to full training as quickly as possible but I will not take any chances because this is the second time I’ve suffered this injury.

“I’m already doing little bits of handling and work in the gym. I’ve come back from this before and I’ll come back from it again.

“It’s tough to watch from the sidelines with Sunderland and I’m disappointed to miss these games for Scotland.”
