Sunderland have completed the signing of Argentinian defender Marcos Angeleri from Estudiantes de la Plata.
The 27-year-old, capped three times but missed the World Cup through injury, has penned a three-year deal with the Black Cats after moving for an undisclosed fee.
Boss Steve Bruce told the club’s official website: “Marcos is a strong, powerful defender and will add depth to the squad.
“He is also very keen to get forward from that position so that adds an extra dimension to the side.
“He has been one of the best right full-backs in South American in recent years and has really impressed us when we’ve watched him.”
Angeleri is the third South American to join Sunderland this summer, following Paraguayan pair Cristian Riveros and Paulo Da Silva to the Stadium of Light.
