England forward Danny Welbeck has admitted his could still switch allegiances to Ghana.
Welbeck, currently on loan at Sunderland from Manchester United, made his England senior debut in the midweek friendly draw with the African nation at Wembley Stadium.
But until he represents the Three Lions in an official FIFA competitive match, the 20-year-old is still eligible to represent his parents’ homeland of Ghana.
And he admits Sunderland team-mates Asamoah Gyan, who scored the Ghanaian equaliser, and John Mensah are continuing in their attempts to get him to join them at international level too.
Welbeck said: “I will definitely have to think about that.
“Asamoah Gyan and John Mensah, my team-mates at Sunderland, have been in my ear, saying 'Come and play for Ghana'.
“I love both countries but it's been a natural progression for me to play for England because I've represented them at every youth level right up to the U21s and I'm delighted I've made it into the senior side as well.”
