Celtic boss Neil Lennon believes the club are close to completing a deal for Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy.
The Hoops are currently on a tour of America, but speaking from the club’s base Lennon revealed a deal had almost been done and that he was hopeful Murphy could join the team in the US.
Lennon told Philly.com: “He’s quick, he’s six foot two and I’ve watched him a lot for a few years now.
“He was playing for Ireland in an end of season tour of America, he caught my eye and I’ve kept an eye on him ever since.
“I think he’ll do all right, he could take the hits for us up here.”
