Stoke striker Tuncay Sanli will hand in a transfer request if he fails to force his way into the starting XI.
Tuncay, a £5m signing from Championship side Middlesbrough last year, has made just two substitute appearances during the current campaign having fallen behind summer arrivals Kenwyne Jones and Jonathan Walters.
The Turkey international, who featured in his country’s shock 1-0 defeat to Azerbaijan earlier this week, is willing to fight for his place at the Britannia Stadium, but admits he will look to leave in January if he fails to dislodge either Jones or Walters.
Tuncay told the Daily Mirror: “I will stay to January and try to get myself into the team.
“But if I cannot, then I will ask the club to let me go. I have to think about my career and about Turkey.”
