Stoke confirm permanent deal for Eidur Gudjohnsen

Football News Staff - 1 Sep 2010

Eidur Gudjohnsen has signed a permanent deal with Stoke, the club have confirmed.

The 31-year-old initially joined the Potters on a season-long loan on Tuesday, but the temporary deal would have taken him to the end of his contract with Monaco.

Therefore Stoke agreed an undisclosed fee with the French club and Gudjohnsen put pen-to-paper on a permanent one-year contract.

The former Chelsea and Tottenham player told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to be here, it is a new challenge, indeed a big challenge, but one I am really looking forward too.

“After speaking to the gaffer and hearing his and the club’s ambitions, he really swayed my mind and I am delighted the deal is done.

“I can’t wait to step on to the pitch, the fans are fantastic here and I always remember the atmosphere from when I have played here before.”
