Jermaine Pennant could earn permanent Stoke contract

Football News Staff - 8 Sep 2010

Stoke chairman Peter Coates has revealed the club could make permanent bid for winger Jermaine Pennant.

The 27-year-old former Liverpool and Birmingham player was a surprise deadline-day arrival from Real Zaragoza, joining the Potters on loan until January.

And when asked about the possibility of Pennant making a permanent move to the Britannia Stadium, Coates told The Sun: “That’s very much an option for us.

“He has real pace and ability so we’re hoping it goes well for him and us.

“I certainly think we have exciting players up front – the most exciting we’ve ever seen here.

“The current team is one of the best we’ve ever had, arguably the best ever as the top division is much more international than it ever was.”

Pennant and fellow newcomers Eidur Gudjohnsen and Marc Wilson are all expected to make their Potters bow in next Monday night’s game against Aston Villa.
