Eidur Gudjohnsen could make Stoke exit

Football News Staff - 31 Dec 2010
Stoke City flop Eidur Gudjohnsen will be allowed to leave the Britannia Stadium during the January transfer window.

The 32-year-old forward joined the Potters from Monaco on a one-year deal in the summer, but he has been unable to make an impact despite arriving with an impressive CV.

The former Chelsea and Barcelona man has made just five appearances in the first half of the campaign, and boss Tony Pulis admits the Iceland international will be allowed to leave in search of first-team football.

Pulis said: “If there's a deal you think is right for the club and the player thinks is right for him, then you get the deal done.

“If it's not, then you don't. Eidur has been unfortunate in that he hasn't had the game time he would've wanted.

“And with the bad weather of the past three weeks, he hasn't been able to play in the reserves.

“But he's come in on his days off and worked hard - he's just been unfortunate.”
