Domenico Di Carlo has told his team they must follow up their weekend victory when they face Genoa in the derby tonight.
Samp ended a three-match losing run by beating Bologna 3-1 at the weekend, and Di Carlo is keen to see his side add more points this evening as they look to put more breathing room between them and Serie A’s relegation zone.
He said: “After a difficult week, we got back on track. This win was important for the morale of the team and for the standings.
“Now we must build on this result.”
Di Carlo added: “(Forward pair) Massimo Maccarone and Jonathan Biabiany have started to find each other and this is a good sign. But we cannot think that all of our problems are solved.
“The derby is a crucial game for us and I expect to see a further improvement from my team.”
While Sampdoria eased to a 3-1 victory over Bologna in their most recent outing, Genoa were held to a goalless draw at rock-bottom Bari.
