Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri continues to brush off talk of his team being contenders for the Serie A title.
Partenopei are currently second in Italy’s top flight, just three points behind leaders AC Milan heading into this weekend’s fixtures, but Mazzarri believes it is the likes of Inter Milan, Roma and Juventus that are truly battling Milan for the Scudetto.
Speaking prior to Saturday’s clash with seventh-placed Roma, Mazzarri said: “For the time being we are not setting aims. We go week by week and then we will see.
“I don't want to include Napoli in the Scudetto race because I want to continue to work in this direction, without getting carried away.
“I am realistic. I continue to believe that the Scudetto is a battle between the usual teams: Milan, Inter, Juventus and Roma.”
He added: “It will be a final for us (today) and we have to get into the encounter with the right spirit to win. Roma are a fierce rival, especially when they play at home.”
Napoli ran out 2-0 winners over Cesena in their most recent Serie A outing, while hosts Roma lost 5-3 to Inter Milan in a thrilling encounter.
