Roma defender Philippe Mexes expects to make a summer switch to Serie A rivals AC Milan.
The France international, 29, is in the final year of his deal with the Stadio Olimpico outfit and has been linked with a Bosman free transfer move to one of European football’ biggest clubs.
And it now appears that Mexes, who will miss the final months of the season with a knee ligament injury, is to end his seven-year association with Roma by defecting to Milan at the end of the campaign.
The Frenchman told Gazzetta dello Sport: “I don't think I will be staying at Roma, I will be going elsewhere.
“AC Milan? There has been a lot of talk about such a move and I will probably go there.
“After seven years in Rome I am very close to the city, the fans and the club. My son was born in Rome and I feel Roman.
“Football is like this, though, and I have to make the best decision for myself.
“Whatever happens I will never find another team like Roma, not in Italy nor abroad.”
