Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has told his team not to be downhearted if they finish third in Serie A this season.

Partenopei have slipped behind Inter Milan in the standings following the defeat to leaders AC Milan and the goalless draw with Brescia, but Mazzarri insists they should still be proud of their accomplishments this season.

He said: “We should not be ashamed to be in third place.

“I always said that our aim was to finish fifth. Our project is to grow gradually.

“We must not forget that we have only been in Serie A in the last four years.”

While Napoli failed to find a way past Brescia in their most recent league outing, Parma also recorded a goalless draw at Chievo Verona.
