Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler has played down the importance of today’s clash with Palermo.
Both sides are battling for a place in the Europa League next season with Udinese currently fifth on 44 points, four ahead of eighth-placed Palermo.
But Inler insists the outcome of the showdown at Stadio Renzo Barbera will not be a deciding factor in the race for a place in the top six.
He said: “There are so many games left to play and we are just focusing on taking it one game at a time.
“I don't believe this game is crucial for the battle to finish in the European qualifying spots.
“We know it's going to be an open game and that we will face a side that always does well when playing at home.”
Inler added: “We will have to press from the start because we cannot allow Palermo to gain confidence.
“I thought Palermo played very well against Fiorentina and despite their defeat against Bologna, they showed they have plenty of talented players.”
Udinese head into this game on the back of a goalless draw with Brescia, while Palermo’s top-six challenge suffered a setback with a 1-0 defeat at Bologna.
