New Palermo coach Serse Cosmi has told his side he wants them to secure Europa League football for next season.
Rosanero parted company with Delio Rossi earlier this week as a 7-0 battering at the hands of Udinese proved to be the final straw for president Maurizio Zamparini following a dismal run of form.
Cosmi, who has a deal until the end of the season, takes over a club that has slipped to eighth, six points behind Roma in the final Europa League spot, but he believes it is possible for the team to get back in the European race.
Speaking ahead of today’s trip to Lazio, he said: “I believe Palermo has great resources. I am certain that I am coaching a team that has great quality.
“I don't see any psychological problems, I only see the positives.
“We have the possibility to finish in the top six and play in Europe next season and we are also alive in the Coppa Italia.
“I believe we can achieve those objectives.”
While Palermo suffered their humiliating defeat at home to Udinese, Lazio slipped to a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Cagliari last time out.
