Lazio captain Tommaso Rocchi has urged his team to put their derby disappointment behind them when they hosts Cesena today.
Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Roma was the Biancoceleste’s fifth successive loss in the Rome derby, and it also saw them surrender the final Champions League qualifying spot to Udinese with x games to go.
And for that reason, Rocchi insists Lazio must focus on what is ahead as they look to earn a place among the elite of European club football next season.
He said: “We must leave behind all the negatives from that derby.
“It is an important season and now the crucial games begin.
“We have obtained positive results this campaign and we cannot throw away all the good work we have done because we lost the derby.
“We have to believe in ourselves and focus on a top four finish.
“We owe it to ourselves and to our fans to battle until the end in order to achieve something important.”
While Lazio were beaten 2-0 by city rivals Roma, Cesena held Juventus to a 2-2 draw last time out.
