Wesley Sneijder believes Inter Milan’s chances of a successful title defence hinge on their next two Serie A outings.
The reigning Serie A champions, currently eight points behind leaders AC Milan with two games in hand, travel to Juventus on Sunday before making the trip to Fiorentina on Wednesday.
Victory in both of those games would see the Nerazzurri close the gap to their city rivals to just two points, and Sneijder believes they will truly be title contenders if they return to the Giuseppe Meazza with all six points.
The Holland international said: “We are closing the gap with Milan. If we win against Juventus and Fiorentina then I really think we can win the Scudetto.
“The game at Juve is crucial for us while we also cannot miss the opportunity to gain ground when we face Fiorentina.”
Inter Milan take a three-match winning run into this game, with the most recent success a 5-3 victory over Roma, while Juventus ran out 3-1 winners at Cagliari.
