Inter Milan defender Lucio is confident the team can retain their Serie A crown this season.
The Nerazzurri, who recorded a scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League treble last season, toiled in the first half of the current campaign under former boss Rafael Benitez that left them some way off the pace.
But the arrival of Leonardo just after Christmas breathed new life into the club and they have slowly closed the gap between them and leaders AC Milan, and the midweek win over Fiorentina means they are now just five points behind their city rivals.
And speaking ahead of today’s visit of Cagliari, Lucio, who returns from a three-game absence, said: “Our scudetto dream continues. There are many games remaining and I believe in our team's chances.
“Inter have played well in recent games and I think the team that has more strength in the final sprint will win the Scudetto.”
While Inter recorded a 2-1 victory at Fiorentina in midweek, Cagliari cruised to a 4-1 win over Chievo.
