Fiorentina v Brescia live preview

Football News Staff - 9 Jan 2011
Fiorentina coach Sinisa Mihajlovic has demanded a reaction from his floundering side, beginning with Sunday’s visit of struggling Brescia.

The Viola have won just one of their last five Serie A matches to slide to 15th in the table, just five points clear of the relegation zone.

And Mihajlovic wants his side to quickly bring an end to that slide before it lands them in serious trouble at the wrong end of the standings.

He said: “We need to find something extra, some fury or some competitive ruthlessness that, above all in periods when luck does not go our way, can make the difference.

“We must react and start climbing up in the standings, starting on Sunday.”

One man who is not expected to feature for Fiorentina this weekend is Adrian Mutu after the Romanian striker walked out a training session earlier this week.

Mihajlovic added: “Mutu excluded himself from the squad.

“He should have played against Bologna (last time out) but in the last practise session ahead of the game he left training early after finding out that the club no longer wanted to sell him.

“I cannot accept that behaviour because he has shown a lack of respect towards me and the club.”

While Fiorentina settled for a 1-1 draw at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, Brescia’s relegation concerns deepened with a 2-1 defeat at the hands of fellow strugglers Cesena.
