AC Milan defender Mario Yepes is relishing his return to former club Chievo Verona later today.
The Colombian spent two years at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi before making the move to Milan last summer, but he missed the meeting between the two teams earlier this season at the San Siro.
And, speaking ahead of his first meeting with his old employers, Yepes said: “Sunday will be a special day from the moment I arrive in Verona.
“I am certain I will become emotional. If today I am an AC Milan player it is all thanks to Chievo.
“I spent two fantastic years there. The city, their people will always remain in my heart.”
However, Yepes will put sentiment to one side as league leaders Milan aim to bounce back from their surprise home defeat to Tottenham in the Champions League earlier this week.
Milan lost the first leg of their last-16 tie 1-0, and Yepes added: “We didn't deserve to lose and we will go to London (on March 9) looking to turn the tie around.
“We will have to arrive to that game in the best possible way.”
Milan’s most recent league outing saw them romp to a 4-0 win over Parma, while hosts Chievo were hammered 4-1 at Cagliari last time out.
