Serie A leaders AC Milan have completed the signing of defender Urby Emanuelson from Dutch giants Ajax.
Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri had been impressed by Emanuelson during the two Champions League group stage clashes with Ajax earlier this season, and the 24-year-old had been expected to join the San Siro outfit in the summer when his deal with the Amsterdam-based club expired.
But Ajax have decided to cash-in on academy product Emanuelson, accepting an offer worth 1.7m euros from Milan to part with the player during the current transfer window.
A statement on the Italian outfit’s official website read: “AC Milan announce the signing of Urby Emanuelson from AFC Ajax.
“The player’s new contract with Milan will tie him to the club until June 30, 2014.”
