The Latics are without Hugo Rodallega (suspended) following his red card in the defeat to Manchester United last weekend, and Victor Moses is also absent after dislocating his shoulder in midweek.
Franco Di Santo (ankle) and Mauro Boselli (knee) are both doubtful, as are Emmerson Boyce (hamstring) and Gary Caldwell (ankle).
Stoke City are without Marc Wilson due to suspension, while Andy Wilkinson (knee) and Jermaine Pennant (hamstring) both face late fitness tests.
