Wigan Athletic 0 Tottenham 0

Football News Staff - 2 Apr 2011
Tottenham missed out the chance to gain ground on the top four, drawing 0-0 at Wigan Athletic.

Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas tested Ali Al Habsi early on, but without both Gareth Bale and Aaron Lennon in the starting XI they were struggling to create openings.

And they almost fell behind on the stroke of half-time when Sebastien Bassong failed to deal with a high ball, but Hugo Rodallega was adjudged to have handled the ball and the chance was gone.

The Latics started the second half brightly and inside the first minute Charles N’Zogbia came in from the wing but could not find a way past Heurelho Gomes.

Bassong then bravely threw himself in front of a Rodallega shot before Gomes ensured Tottenham would not leave empty-handed, tipping away a Tom Cleverley curler before getting down well to deny Conor Sammon a first goal for the Latics.

However, Spurs will be kicking themselves for not gaining on Arsenal and Chelsea after both teams drew.
