Sunderland’s defensive headache continues heading into Saturday’s visit of Bolton Wanderers to the Stadium of Light. (kick-off 12.45 GMT, live on Sky Sports 2)
Anton Ferdinand (hamstring/back) has joined first-choice centre-backs Titus Bramble and Michael Turner (both knee) on the sidelines, meaning on-loan Nedum Onuoha will switch from full-back.
Ahmed Elmohamady is expected to come into the starting XI at right back, but Bolo Zenden is doubtful due to a concussion.
Mark Davies misses out for Bolton through suspension, so Fabrice Muamba is set to start for Wanderers following his goal against Blackburn last week.
