Blackpool continued their superb start to life in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory at Stoke City.
It was the Potters who started brightly and Craig Cathcart had to get in the way of a Ricardo Fuller half-volley, but the Seasiders responded as DJ Campbell pulled an effort wide.
Fuller then had Richard Kingson beat with a superb curling effort only for the ball to come crashing back off the crossbar, and Robert Huth had a ‘goal’ chalked off for a foul on the Blackpool goalkeeper.
The Seasiders forged ahead just after the interval when they broke forward and Luke Varney combined with Charlie Adam to create an opening for DJ Campbell to score.
It was Gary Taylor-Fletcher who was then frustrated by the crossbar as Blackpool almost doubled their advantage, and the framework would continue to haunt the hosts as Matthew Etherington headed against the bar.
Matt Phillips almost beat Asmir Begovic with a looping effort, but the one goal would prove to be enough after Ian Evatt cleared a Rory Delap shot off the line.
