Fulham v Newcastle United preview

Football News Staff - 2 Feb 2011
Newcastle United begin life without Andy Carroll by making the trip to Fulham tonight. (kick-off 20.00 GMT)

The Magpies sold leading goalscorer Carroll to Liverpool on transfer deadline day, meaning Shola Ameobi and Leon Best are likely to continue as Toon’s two starting strikers.

New loan signing Stephen Ireland is sidelined with a hamstring injury and Cheik Tiote sits out the final game of a three-match ban at Craven Cottage, but Kevin Nolan looks to have recovered from an ankle injury.

Meanwhile, new-boys Gael Kakuta and Eidur Gudjohnsen are expected to feature in some form for hosts Fulham.

A hamstring injury has left Dickson Etuhu doubtful, while David Stockdale is expected to continue in goal with Mark Schwarzer having only just returned from Asian Cup duty.
