Fulham 3 Blackpool 0

Football News Staff - 3 Apr 2011
Bobby Zamora was at his dangerous best as Fulham cruised to a 3-0 victory over Blackpool.

Just hours after a statue to late pop icon Michael Jackson was unveiled at Craven Cottage, the two sides went head-to-head in a real six-pointer with both sides looking over their shoulders at the relegation.

The Cottagers raced out of the blocks like speed demons and Damien Duff forced a decent save from Richard Kingson before Chris Baird tested the Blackpool goalkeeper as the hosts threatened.

They eventually took a deserved lead when a bad pass from James Beattie let in Bobby Zamora and this time around Kingson could not prevent the England striker from breaking the deadlock.

Five minutes later the visitors were in a state of shock when Zamora met a Duff free-kick to head home the Cottagers’ second goal of the game.

The Seasiders almost pulled one back when Brett Ormerod beat Mark Schwarzer to a long ball forward by Craig Cathcart, but the chance was gone too soon as Baird played heartbreaker with a goal-line clearance.

Beattie was then denied by the upright as the minutes ticked away, and Fulham made it 3-0 when Clint Dempsey headed against the post and Brede Hangeland fired home the rebound.

And it was too bad for Blackpool as both Craig Cathcart and Gary Taylor-Fletcher failed to hand the visiting supporters something to scream about.
