Player of the Month - Andy Carroll (Newcastle United)
Newcastle forward Andy Carroll has fired himself into England contention with four goals in three Premier League games.
The 21-year-old was handed the Magpies' legendary number nine shirt in the summer and has not disappointed the St James' Park faithful so far.
Having drawn a blank in the season opener at Manchester United, Carroll helped himself to a hat-trick as Toon thrashed Aston Villa 6-0 for their first league victory of the campaign, and then netted his side’s only goal in the 1-1 draw with Wolves a week later.
Manager of the Month - Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea)
Three games, three wins, 14 goals scored and none conceded. Only one man could be named Football News’ manager of the month for August; Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Huge question marks were being raised about the Premier League champions following a dismal run of results in pre-season and the Community Shield defeat to title rivals Manchester United.
But Chelsea have answered their critics in style with 6-0 routs of West Brom and Wigan, as well as a 2-0 victory against Stoke. In this sort of form, Ancelotti’s men will take some stopping this season.
