Robert Pires is poised to make his Aston Villa debut when the Midlands club travel to Blackburn on Sunday. (kick-off 13.30 GMT, live on Sky Sports 1)
Pires joined the club earlier this week having been without a side throughout the summer months, but he has been training with former club Arsenal in a bid to maintain fitness and that means he could feature at Ewood Park.
Gabriel Agbonlahor (groin), Ciaran Clark (calf) and Richard Dunne (knee) all look set to overcome injuries in time to feature, while Stephen Ireland has recovered from a bout of the flu.
However, defender James Collins is doubtful due to a calf problem.
Meanwhile, Blackburn have a major concern over winger Brett Emerton heading into Sunday’s clash.
Emerton sustained a hamstring injury during Australia’s friendly during midweek, and manager Sam Allardyce, already without several players, is sweating over the fitness of one of his star men.
Definitely sidelined are Martin Olsson, Steven Nzonzi, Benjani (all hamstring), Vince Grella and Keith Andrews (both groin).
