Birmingham City v Newcastle United preview

Newcastle United are boosted by the return of their starting two centre-backs for the trip to Birmingham City on Saturday. (kick-off 15.00 GMT)

Fabricio Coloccini and Mike Williamson, who were former boss Chris Hughton’s first-choice pairing, are both back from suspension and new manager Alan Pardew could hand them immediate recalls at the expense of Steven Taylor and Sol Campbell.

Steve Harper has recovered from a shoulder injury, but Pardew could opt to stick with Tim Krul in goal.

Liam Ridgewell and Martin Jiranek are both available having overcome bouts of flu, but Alexander Hleb remains sidelined by a hamstring injury.
