Drogba (fever) and Lampard (groin) have joined a growing list of absentees as the Premier League champions head to Villa Park.

Ancelotti said: “Frank is not available, Drogba is not available, (Daniel) Sturridge, (Salomon) Kalou, Alex, (Yossi) Benayoun are not available.

“Frank is getting better, but he needs maybe two weeks to be 100% fit. He had a problem on his adductor and we have to pay attention to that.

“Drogba had a fever this week, all week, and wasn’t able to train. He started training today, but he’s not fit. He took antibiotics in the last few days, and will need to train next week.”

Aston Villa forward Emile Heskey (calf and shin) faces a let fitness test, so John Carew is on standby.

However, one definite absentee for the hosts is Gabriel Agbonlahor, who is sidelined by a groin injury.
