Newcastle midfielder Joey Barton could face action from the Football Association following Wednesday night’s clash with Blackburn.
The 28-year-old appeared to punch Rovers’ Morten Gamst Pedersen in the chest during the Magpies’ 2-1 defeat at St James’ Park.
Referee Michael Jones did not see the incident but the FA may take retrospective action against Barton.
And Pedersen told Sky Sports: “You’ve probably seen the pictures on television and everything. It’s up to the FA. I’m not going to say anything.
“Yeah (I was upset by it). I focused my game after that. There’s nothing else I could do.
“You’ve seen the pictures and everything, so you know it’s football that you’re playing.”
Rovers boss Sam Allardyce added: “He’s taken a swipe. The referee hasn’t seem it and it’s very, very unfortunate and shouldn’t have happened.”
